We’re hiring a Data Analyst to join our expanding Data organization and actively support the Analytics and Business Intelligence team. This role focuses on encouraging and enabling data-driven decision-making across the company. The team works closely with all of Wattpad’s product and business units to create high-quality analytical reports and dashboards, manage internal metrics and KPIs, and continue improving our BI platform.

In this position, you’ll take complex business needs and translate them into clear, actionable insights. You’ll help ensure that decisions at Wattpad are grounded in data, and you’ll build an understanding of why our data behaves the way it does. Data is central to how we make decisions at Wattpad, and you’ll play a key role in supporting our continued growth and scaling.

What you’ll do:
– Deliver analytics initiatives to understand user behavior and product usage patterns
– Build data models and data transformations for use in the BI platform
– Query and analyze data from multiple sources to uncover actionable insights, and provide strategic recommendations to business partners as a thought partner
– Propose, prototype, and implement new metrics that help stakeholders better understand users and the business
– Partner with product teams to design, evaluate, and run experiments, including their analysis
– Perform deep dives into user behavior, user journeys, and product usage

What we’re looking for:
– 4+ years of experience as a data analyst, analytics engineer, or in a related role within a rigorous, data-driven environment
– Strong technical skills in SQL, including query optimization
– Proficiency in Python
– Knowledge of dimensional data modeling
– An engineering mindset with a focus on building tools and digging into technical challenges
– Solid understanding of statistical concepts such as hypothesis testing, statistical significance, and probability distributions
– Experience with data visualization and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Periscope, Looker, etc.)
– Experience creating custom models to address business needs such as analysis, forecasting, clustering, and more
– Excellent communication skills, with the ability to synthesize, visualize, and present ideas clearly to stakeholders
– Curiosity about experimenting with new data techniques and a strong desire to learn and share knowledge
