The English Editing Department ensures that all MDPI manuscripts are published with clear, consistent wording and correct grammar.
The Role: English Editor
We are seeking careful, committed individuals who have a strong command of English and an understanding of the subtleties of academic writing to help researchers publish their work. English Editors contribute to academic publishing by editing the language of peer-reviewed articles to make them ready for publication.
This is a full-time, entry-level position in our office in Singapore. After a probation period, during which experienced editors provide internal training, successful candidates will have the chance to broaden their responsibilities and build expertise in new areas.
Responsibilities
- Edit academic articles submitted to MDPI journals to ensure they are ready for publication.
- Use knowledge of English and the manuscript’s context to make the writing clear, consistent, and grammatically accurate, conveying the author’s message without unnecessary changes to their voice.
- Make sure manuscripts follow MDPI’s editorial guidelines.
- Deliver work within tight deadlines while consistently meeting targets.
- Take on additional tasks, such as training colleagues inside and outside the department and editing corporate materials.
- Work with the Editorial and Production teams throughout the editorial process.
Experience And Skills
Essential requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in any field.
- Strong expertise in the English language.
- Experience in editing, translating, or publishing.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an international team.
- Authorization to work in Singapore.
Preferred skills and experience:
- Professional experience in academic research, editing, or publishing.
- Familiarity with LaTeX.
- Experience working in an office environment.
