Barrel is seeking an HR Manager to join our remote-first team. The HR Manager is responsible for our company’s HR functions and ensuring we have best-in-class benefits and compliance. This is a part-time (20-30 hrs/wk) role with potential to increase hours and/or go full-time. You’ll be reporting into our COO and will be a part of the People Operations team.

Responsibilities:

· Act as a point of contact for employees and managers on various HR related topics including, but not limited to, interpreting and providing guidance on HR policies or processes, resolving issues that may arise, workforce planning, and administering employee programs and initiatives.
· Work closely with partners and department leaders on all day-to-day performance management needs including organizing and sending notices to employees on review cycles or promotion notices, providing coaching support for managers around performance conversations, career development, and disciplinary actions, and administering tools and processes.
· Assist the team with conducting initial interviews and scheduling team interviews as needed.
· Handle off-boarding processes including employee relations, preparing notices, termination and other paperwork.
· HR administration including but not limited to; employment verifications, I-9 processing, information change approvals, maintaining HRIS record integrity and compiling reports as needed.
· Partnering with our PEO TriNet, maintain an in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring compliance with local, state, and national labor law regulations.
· Manage HRIS platforms and track insurance, PTO, raises, open enrollment, and employee benefits.
· Support the agency’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives as applied to talent management and retention
· Perform research on industry salary and benefits to provide best-in-class benchmarks for our team

Skills:

Experience working with highly sensitive and confidential employee data
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to anticipate needs and proactively solve problems
Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
Strong time management skills and ability to multitask
Desire to work in a fast paced, open environment while keeping a positive attitude
Web and technology savvy; experience with Mac OS and high proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Apps

Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required in human resources, business administration, or a related field; HR certifications are a plus.
3-7 years of broad HR / People & Culture experience preferably in an agency or startup environment.
Experience within HRIS platforms and benefits administration
