With a strong product-market fit, more than one million passionate users worldwide, and a track record of company profitability (despite only having raised a seed round!), BioRender is on a sharp growth trajectory that presents ample opportunity and challenge for our first Head of People. Since early 2020, we’ve quadrupled our team size and shifted to a remote-first workplace; we’re now fast-approaching 100 people and plan to double in size by the end of 2022. We’re looking for someone who is excited by the complexities of rapidly scaling a remote-first company and can draw on their past experiences to guide us through this hypergrowth.

As a part of our executive team and reporting to our CEO, you’ll be the strategic leader managing all things People Ops at BioRender. You’ll nurture and sustain our high performance culture, help everyone feel challenged and fulfilled at work, and set us up strategically for rapid, scaleable organizational growth.

In turn, we’ll set you up for success: you’ll have a solid foundation of processes and programs to build off of and further shape, and the support of a 7-person People team spanning HR, Talent, and Office & Culture functions.

BioRender is remote-first; though this role would involve regular (2-4x/quarter) travel to our Toronto office.

Your responsibilities

Partner closely with the CEO and full leadership team to develop and implement our People Ops strategy
Establish a trusted People Ops function that serves as an advisor and partner to leaders throughout the organization, and build a team that can support our scale with the expertise and empathy needed throughout hyper-growth
Lead and develop the existing People team
Provide useful data and metrics to help guide decision making and allow the company to scale effectively and efficiently
Support the leadership team with talent assessment, workforce and succession planning, and development plans
Develop and implement training and development programs to retain high performing employees
Lead remote-focused employee engagement programs
Coach leaders and employees to fully leverage performance feedback to drive improved results
Cultivate a top employer brand and collaborate closely on our recruiting playbook to ensure we are hiring A players efficiently and effectively
Own total rewards philosophy and lead biannual compensative review process
Manage employee relations and HR compliance within the organization

What you bring to the table

8+ years of experience in People Operations Leadership roles in a high-growth environment, startups preferred
3-4 years of experience managing and developing a team of People professionals
History of building high performance cultures where people do their best work
Track record of excellence in a startup environment
Experience in leadership coaching, organization effectiveness, team dynamics, leadership development, management/leadership effectiveness, and facilitation
Well-rounded expertise across all general areas of HR, including Organizational Design, Workforce Planning, Diversity and Inclusion, Employee Experience, Talent and Performance Management, Total Rewards, Employee Relations, and Employment Law
