CommonLit is a nonprofit education technology organization committed to ensuring that all students—especially those in Title I schools—graduate with the reading, writing, communication, and problem-solving skills they need to succeed in college and beyond. We envision a world where every student has access to a world-class education. CommonLit operates an online reading program for grades 3–12, available at http://www.CommonLit.org, which is used by teachers in more than 90,000 American schools.

**The Opportunity**
CommonLit is looking for experienced educators to serve as **Virtual Professional Development Facilitators (Part-Time, Contractor)**. This role focuses only on leading and supporting virtual professional development for schools implementing CommonLit’s instructional programs and does not require travel.

This position is a great fit for former teacher leaders, instructional coaches, or school leaders who are passionate about adult learning, curriculum implementation, and improving literacy outcomes at scale.

You’ll enjoy this role if:

You have also participated in curriculum decisions and/or implementation, and you can communicate effectively with teachers, school leaders, and other stakeholders. You understand that change within a school is complex.
– **You enjoy solving problems and supporting educators.** You will lead professional development for many schools implementing the CommonLit 360 curriculum for the first time. You’ll partner with schools to solve problems strategically, using your knowledge of best practices and collaborative problem-solving.
– **You’re eager to learn new skills and welcome feedback.** You enjoy learning and challenging yourself.
– **You know CommonLit well and are excited to learn more about our products and program.** Candidates must be familiar with CommonLit’s products and have used them with success. We will give special consideration to candidates who have had success teaching CommonLit 360 or supporting curriculum implementation in their school or district.
– **You have a flexible schedule.** You can lead virtual PD sessions between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. ET.

**Application deadline:** We will review applications on a rolling basis. Priority will go to applications submitted by March 15, 2026.

**Scope of Work & Availability**
– Expected availability of **up to 20 hours per week** from May through August.
– At least **10 hours per week** from September through April.
– Virtual sessions typically run **between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. ET**.

**Key Responsibilities**

– Prepare for and follow up on PD sessions, including training, internal meetings, and any required follow-up documentation.
– Collaborate with CommonLit’s Professional Development and Account Management teams.
– Build and maintain strong expertise in **CommonLit 360** instructional tools and PD offerings.

**Qualifications**
– 5+ years of experience as an ELA teacher, instructional coach, or school leader.
– 1+ year of experience facilitating engaging, results-driven professional development.
– Strong knowledge of best practices for ELA instruction and adult learning.
– Open to feedback and coaching.
– Familiarity with CommonLit instructional resources; **experience with the CommonLit 360 curriculum is strongly preferred**.
– Valid driver’s license, and willingness to fly and drive are required.
– Based in the United States, with reasonable proximity to a major airport.
