Location and Benefits

Role operates in a hybrid remote environment but candidates local to Austin commuting area is a major plus, along with Los Angeles or Pittsburgh to promote routine in person team collaboration. Regardless of home base location, regular travel is expected for meetings, workshops or team engagement activities considered most effective in person. RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct User Research:

Understand the problem
Work with the team to identify the type of research required to bring insight and direction to ensure inclusive and research backed product design
Identify the appropriate research methodology to employ and execute:
Create research plans
Recruit participants
Conduct research (interviews, run focus groups, contextual inquiry, etc.)
Analyze resultsPresent results in an implemented way (personas, customer journey maps, etc.)

Use-ability testing:

Plan and create ongoing product usability tests and protocol
Expert knowledge of user testing platform or tool of choice
Recruit participants
Run tests
Analyze results
Provide team with data in a way that leads to the improved user experience of the product

Be an advocate for research backed design decisions:

Participate in design reviews, workshops and brainstorms
Ensure the findings from the research are being considered and integrated into the product design
Work with remote team of Designers, Product Managers, Engineers and Stakeholders to prioritize research opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
Creates Policies, procedures and processes, ensures research is documented and dispersed amongst stakeholders

REQUIREMENTS

Self-starter who requires no direction. Finds where the needs are and works to fill them.
Excellent attention to detail
Expert knowledge and experience in their field:
Has knowledge of many UX Research Methodologies (both qualitative and quantitative)
Has experience conducting research in many of these methodologies with particular focus on qualitative research (user interview, usability tests, focus groups, etc.)
Has expert knowledge of their preferred toolset for conducting this research (ex. Usertesting.com)
Has experience conducting user research with participants from diverse backgrounds
Experience working on a digital product team (building an app or digital product)
Experience working in a start-up environment is a plus
Comfortable working in Atlassian products – jira & confluence

NICE TO HAVE:

Can provide example documentation of user research plans including, user testing, user interviews, focus groups, etc.

Hybrid in Austin, TX; will consider full-remote on case-by-case basis
