About PostHog

We build every product companies need

to run their business from day one through their IPO—and beyond. It’s the operating system for people who build software.

We began with open-source product analytics and launched out of Y Combinator’s W20 cohort

. Since then, we’ve shipped more than a dozen products, including:

  • A built-in data warehouse

, enabling users to query product and customer data together using custom SQL insights.

  • A customer data platform

, so teams can send data wherever they need it with ease.

  • PostHog AI

, an AI-powered analyst that answers product questions, helps users find useful session recordings, and can generate custom SQL queries.

Next up on our roadmap are CRM, messaging, revenue analytics, and support tools. When we say every product companies need to run their business, we truly mean it.

We are:

  1. Product-led. PostHog is installed by 100,000+ companies, largely driven by word of mouth. We have strong product-market fit.

  2. Default alive

. Revenue is growing by about 10% month over month on average, and we’re highly efficient. We raise money to pursue ambition and grow faster—not just to keep going.

  3. Well-funded. We’ve raised over $100M from leading https://posthog.com/about

backers. We’re built for a long, ambitious journey.

Our focus is on building an excellent product for end users, hiring outstanding teammates, shipping quickly, and staying as weird as possible

.

What we care about

  • Transparency: Our public company handbook explains our roadmap, how we pay (or sometimes let people go), our strategy, and how we work. Internally, we also share revenue, notes, and slides from board meetings, as well as fundraising plans—so everyone has the context needed to make good decisions.

  • Autonomy: We don’t tell people what to do. Everyone decides what to work on next based on what will have the biggest impact for customers and what they find interesting and motivating. Engineers lead product teams

and make product decisions. Teams are flexible and can change quickly when needed.

  • Ship fast: Why not now?

We want to build many products, so we can’t ship at a normal pace. We’ve structured the company around small teams—autonomous, highly efficient groups of “cracked engineers” who can move faster than much larger companies because they own their products end to end.

  • Time for building: Nothing gets shipped in a meeting. We’re remote by default and use asynchronous communication as our standard—PRs > Issues > Slack. Tuesdays and Thursdays are meeting-free days

. We prioritize focused building time over perfect coordination. This will be the most productive job you’ve ever had.

  • Ambition: We want to solve big problems. We believe that aiming for the best upside—even if we sometimes miss—is better than never trying. We’re optimistic about what’s possible and our ability to get there.

  • Being weird: Being weird means redesigning an already world-class website for the fifth time. It means shipping every product that relates to customer data. It means building an objectively unnecessary developer toy

with questionable shareholder value. Doing weird things is a competitive advantage. And it’s fun.

Who we’re looking for

  • A customer-obsessed person who can support a large number of our larger customers. You’ll engage regularly to ensure their retention and continued growth.

  • You’ll need to be highly helpful and technical enough to support customers—solving real problems without needing to ask a sales engineer for help.

  • No disappearing and defaulting to ask an expert. You’ll be the expert.

  • You’re skilled at building relationships with customers, understanding their priorities, and ensuring they succeed today and long-term.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be the main point of contact for 25–40 paying customers in the $20k–$100k+ ARR range. Some will come from our sales process and already be familiar to us; others will have self-served and may never have spoken with us before.

Your job is to ensure both groups stay with us. That includes technical support (debugging, configuration guidance), commercial support (pricing questions, credit renewals), and people management (multithreading, handling escalations).

Day to day, you’ll:

  • Build relationships with users: know the key contacts at each company and ensure they know you.

  • Own their feedback and make sure it reaches the broader PostHog team.

  • Investigate technical issues: you’ll be the first to dive into customer problems—often solving them yourself instead of immediately escalating to support.

  • Be highly responsive to Slack messages, support tickets, and emails.

  • Be their favorite Customer Success partner.

More broadly, you’ll monitor product usage and revenue data to keep customer health out of the red, and you’ll act early when it starts to decline. Your goal is to never be surprised when a customer tells us they’re leaving. If you want to build automations to help you do your job, go for it.

This role includes a base salary plus a bonus for meeting or exceeding customer retention targets

. The salary shown in our compensation calculator is the OTE (80/20).

What you won’t be doing

❌ Carrying someone with you to every customer meeting. Usually it will be just you and the customer. Very occasionally, you may bring a product engineer—e.g., if the customer is one of our earliest paying customers for a new product.

❌ Aggressively pursuing expansion opportunities. This role is primarily focused on retention.

Requirements

  • Technically capable: You don’t need to be an engineer, but you should be comfortable working with code. You troubleshoot issues customers run into (and sometimes even submit PRs to fix bugs yourself) and recommend configuration best practices across all PostHog products.

  • You understand how product teams work: You know the roles, how teams collaborate, and how features ship—so you can help them use PostHog to solve real problems. For example: why running experiments matters, how to use product analytics and session replay together to find drop-off points and test fixes, or when error tracking helps teams ship better.

  • Strong customer focus: You’ll help users and remove blockers to effective use of PostHog—not send them elsewhere and move on.

  • Ability to work at scale: You’ll have about 40 customers. You can’t treat everyone the same, and you won’t try.

Nice to have

  • Experience with similar technologies, such as developer tools generally, or specifically product analytics, session replay, feature flags, A/B testing, data warehouses, or data pipelines.

  • Experience in pre-sales or a Technical Account Manager role, combining technical knowledge with commercial insight.

If you have a disability, please let us know if there’s any way we can improve the interview process for you—we’re happy to accommodate.
