As a Technical Lead at Nexmo on the Developer Experience team (https://developer.nexmo.com/team), your main responsibilities will be to use a combination of insight and metric-driven decision making to support the needs of developers on the Nexmo API Platform. You’ll develop functionality and write content within Nexmo Developer (https://developer.nexmo.com). You will also help enhance other tooling and contribute to an amazing overall developer experience.

As the technical lead of Nexmo Developer and other developer tooling, you will be responsible for executing its development as well as creating content and managing contributions from other team members and the open-source community.

Responsibilities include:

  • Research & develop documentation best practices and tooling used to implement Nexmo Developer
  • Develop and maintain the Nexmo Developer codebase (https://github.com/Nexmo/nexmo-developer)
  • Integrate developer feedback continuously into your plans and your documentation
  • Work as part of the Developer Relations team to support the Product and Marketing teams and ensure the documentation is accurate in line with the positioning and branding of our products
  • Encourage people across the Nexmo organisation and the developer community to contribute to Nexmo Developer
  • Ensure ease of contribution to Nexmo Developer through providing clear authoring requirements and ensure those are implemented within Nexmo Developer
  • Help Nexmo become recognised for excellent developer experience through highly usable documentation

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Provide feedback on APIs, SDKs, documentation and product functionality:
  • Individual opinion and insight
  • Via discussions with the developer community
  • By organising and running beta/alpha events
  • Build and maintain open source quick start samples and apps
  • Occasionally share knowledge regarding your work at Nexmo at events
  • Provide support via social channels such as Twitter, StackOverflow the Nexmo Community Slack, and encourage issues to be raised on GitHub
  • Support early adopters and key customers with integrations
  • Create opportunities for other Nexmo employees to engage with the developer community
  • Help with recruitment through referral of strong technical candidates for roles at Nexmo
  • Contribute to the development of libraries and tooling

Essential:

  • Empathy
  • Two years experience of developing web applications with Ruby / Ruby on Rails
  • Two years experience of front and back-end JavaScript
  • Experience of contributing to open source projects
  • Experience of writing technical documentation
  • Demonstrable knowledge of developer experience best practices
  • Knowledge of git and GitHub
  • Experience of building and using APIs

Preferred:

  • Experience of managing open source projects
  • Experience of creating Information Architecture for technical products
  • Experience with Open API Spec / API Blueprint / RAML
  • React / Vue.js and Webpacker
  • Heroku
  • Continuous integration
  • SaaS/PaaS experience
