The System Administrator shoulders the heavy, critical responsibility of scaling, maintaining, supporting, enhancing, and protecting CipherHealth’s infrastructure. This requires a deep understanding of system architecture and design, complete fluency in Unix environments, an ability and interest in understanding how and why things work, and a deep commitment to the availability of the platforms you maintain.

Some key factors for success:

• Proficiency designing, developing, and deploying high-availability systems

• In-depth exposure to best practices in monitoring, logging, operations, etc.

• Understanding of security infrastructure, firewall management, and secure networking protocols

• Willingness to take ownership of system administration process

• Preference to work ‘late shift’ hours to coincide with our international developer schedule

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor NewRelic and M/Monit system performance

• Knowledge in Chef or other configuration mgmt software

• Design and implement solutions for scale at web, services, and DB layers

• Integrate alerts and notifications into third-party tools (such as HipChat)

• Support installation and management of third-party BIS (such as Pentaho or Tableau)

• Support the Director of Information Security in implementing security best practices
