The Data Acquisition Manager manages critical vendor relationships and related processes, including market research, data sourcing, relationship qualification, contract management and negotiation with existing and new vendors. Responsibilities include working across departments to understand use cases and data requirements, managing test contracts, contract renewals, data testing and data delivery.
This role will gather data requirements from key constituents, identify and qualify data vendor prospects, create and manage data vendor relationships, consolidate internal alignment for critical contract decisions, and act as the point of contact between D&B and data vendors. Additionally, they will become familiar with subject matter across a variety of datasets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract experience & familiarity is key here – Independently negotiate pricing, build contract terms, and embed precise SLA requirements within an established framework.
- Serve as the liaison between Business Units/Data Users and external data vendors, ensuring sourced data aligns with business-provided requirements and that contract structures fully support organizational goals.
- Source, vet, and manage data vendors by evaluating top-tier providers, negotiating terms, and cultivating long-term partnerships that deliver measurable business value.
- Support complex contract development by continuing to evolve scalable contractual frameworks and highly detailed SLAs, while confidently leading aggressive negotiations on pricing, performance obligations, and vendor accountability.
- Effectively communicate with key internal stakeholders from proposal through data onboarding.
- Conduct market research to identify relevant data sources and stay updated with emerging data trends, regulations, and reporting frameworks.
- Coordinate multiple vendor initiatives at different phases of testing, contracting, and renewing to ensure a successful launch and relationship moving forward.
- Act as a liaison for critical vendors, uncovering risks & opportunities associated with these vendors’ offerings through regular touchpoints.
- Proactively review our book of business to identify cost savings opportunities drive more efficiencies, data usage or promote other revenue drivers.
- Execute test contracts, retrieve testing deliverables, and act as the steward between data vendors and internal testing teams.
- Work across departments to gather use cases and data requirements.
Key Requirement:
- 8+ years of experience in project management, account management, business development, or vendor management preferably in the B2B data space.
- 5+ years of contract and negotiation experience.
- Excellent communication skills both spoken and written to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong Excel skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with B2B Data industry.
