Join our international team as a Sommelier.
Sommelier responsibilities include:
- Welcoming guests to the venue
- Assist customers with their choice of wine or drink and to take the appropriate orders
- Make recommendations in a positive and friendly manner, by promoting and up selling wines
- Decanting wine
- Ensure wine and champagne are up to date with correct vintages and prices, all products are stored properly in the cellar and on the display
- Assist with monitoring and managing all glassware to ensure that all stock is maintained in an appropriate condition
- Staying attentive to the needs of guests in the dining area
- Responding to complaints and helping to resolve them
- Develop and maintain all wine-related staff training programs
- Greet customers upon their departure
To be a successful Sommelier you should possess the following qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Luxury Hotel or fine dining restaurant with a good selection of wines
- Excellent Knowledge of English. Knowledge of additional foreign languages will be considered as an advantage
- Deep Fine wine and food knowledge and expertise
- Must be well presented and professionally groomed at all times
- Must be passionate about wine
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire dining and bar area
- Works well as part of a team and on individual tasks
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Degree in Hospitality/Tourism
