Main Purpose of the Role
In this dynamic position, the Japanese Language Specialist will localize content and create linguistic assets such as glossaries and style guides.

Responsibilities include:
• Performing Localization QA (LQA) in Japanese.
• Identifying, documenting, triaging, and resolving linguistic and functional issues.
• Collaborating with Localization Project Managers to prioritize and redirect engineering-related problems.
• Reviewing translation quality results and sharing feedback with leads when necessary.
• Monitoring critical issues and providing ongoing updates on outstanding bugs.
• Reviewing translated materials including product content, marketing web pages, sales collateral, email campaigns, press releases, blog posts, and more.
• Collecting and delivering linguistic feedback to external translators.
• Guiding translators on linguistic issues and on maintaining the client’s tone and style.
• Tracking and reporting quality metrics related to third‑party translators.
• Responding to localization questions from internal and external partners.
• Handling urgent translation requests when required.
• Using localized products regularly and offering feedback to project managers.

Job Title: Japanese Language Specialist
Location: Remote within the United States
Schedule: Full‑time, Monday through Friday (40 hours per week)
Hourly Rate: $30–$35
Employment Type: W‑2, with benefits eligibility based on hours worked
Must have valid authorization to work in the United States

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in translation, editing, or linguistic review for consumer or enterprise products.
• Native‑level Japanese and fluency in English.
• Experience using CAT (computer‑assisted translation) tools.
• Strong cultural knowledge and awareness of trends and everyday usage in Japanese.
• Proficiency with Jira or other issue‑tracking systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Additional Preferred Skills:
• Familiarity with Dropbox.
• Knowledge of additional languages.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies.
• Awareness of the software development lifecycle.
