Help Scout is hiring a quality assistance engineer to help ensure our products provide an excellent customer experience. We build our products with engineer-led unit tests and functional tests, as well as extensive dogfooding and internal testing throughout the company.

As our first full-time QA engineer, you are responsible for test plan development, execution and analysis across several major new initiatives, starting with our first mobile application. For this project you’ll be joining two other mobile engineers and a designer to create an iOS version of our flagship application used by over 4,000 (and growing!) companies around the world.

About the Role

  • The engineering team now has about fifteen people, with two of them working full-time on the mobile application (iOS). You will be working hard with them to perform exploratory testing, build effective test plans, execute them efficiently, and deliver a great product to our customers.

  • A separate group of engineers is working on all the API endpoints consumed by the mobile app. Your test plans will need to cover the complete end-to-end application behavior exposed to the user.

  • The mobile app exposes most of the non-administrator functionality of our popular web application. You will need to become an expert in its behavior and nuances so you can scrutinize corresponding details in the mobile application.

  • After the mobile app launch, you’ll work to plan for the testing of additional strategic features and product areas across both our web and mobile applications.
