Overview
About Certara
Certara is a fast-growing company and a stimulating place to work. Our mission is to help accelerate the development of meaningful medicines that improve the lives of people in need. We highly value innovation and creativity, and we support everyone with training and ongoing professional development. Our portfolio covers all stages of drug development—from discovery and preclinical through clinical and post-marketing—collaborating with 1,200 commercial companies, 250 academic institutions, and many regulatory agencies.
Certara Strategic Consulting is the world’s largest pharmacometrics consultancy, offering career paths tailored to employees’ goals and personal interests. As part of Certara, we create value by integrating advanced simulation methods into the most critical drug development outputs, helping guide internal decisions and strengthen global regulatory submissions. Drawing on experience from thousands of key drug development projects for hundreds of biopharma companies, we deliver proven success and a wide range of expertise to each engagement.
Our Pharmacometricians provide expertise across clinical development plans, including the design, execution, and interpretation of relevant clinical pharmacology and PK/PD studies. Qualified candidates can work across multiple therapeutic areas and data types, with a strong understanding of applied population PK and PK/PD modeling and simulation to support drug development programs.
Responsibilities
- Strengthen strategic drug development expertise and experience supporting drug development decisions.
- Improve pharmacometric skills using purpose-built modeling approaches such as population PK and PK/PD modeling, target-mediated drug disposition (TMDD) models, and dose- and exposure-response analyses.
- Expand drug development expertise by working with a wide range of companies, molecular modalities, and therapeutic areas.
- Build a consulting career by identifying and pursuing opportunities that align with your ambitions and personal interests.
- Support client projects by working in teams with other Associates, senior expert modelers, and drug development consultants.
- Perform hands-on pharmacometric modeling on client projects as a billable consultant.
- Continue learning advanced modeling and simulation methods, focusing on approaches suitable for small molecules and/or complex biologics (including bispecific biologics, CAR T-cell therapies, and immuno-oncology treatments).
- Carry out quality control of model code and reports.
Qualifications
- MSc, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent qualification in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- At least 1 to 3 years of industry and/or consulting experience (which may be combined with academic research), working in R&D, preclinical, and clinical environments.
- Strong experience in pharmacometrics, clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, or a related area within a project team is preferred, in either academia or industry.
- Expertise in PK/PD modeling with strong quantitative skills to build models that capture nonlinear behavior and include mechanistic or semi-mechanistic components linked to mechanism of action, tailored to specific drug development needs.
- Proficiency with modeling and analysis software (e.g., Phoenix NLME, NONMEM, Adapt, Monolix) and experience constructing datasets (e.g., R, SAS).
- Ability to independently conduct analyses and modeling and develop reports with limited supervision.
- Fluency in spoken and written English. As Certara is global, additional languages are an advantage.
