The Position

We’re hiring a People Assistant/HR Administrator to join our People Team for a temporary maternity cover. In this role, you’ll provide crucial operational and administrative support for the People function across the UK. You’ll help manage high-volume employee lifecycle activities, update HR systems, support recruitment administration, handle absence records, and respond to employee questions.

You’ll work closely with the People Team, Payroll, Customer Service, hiring managers, and operational stakeholders to ensure employee information, documentation, and HR processes are completed accurately and on time. The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to handle confidential employee data in a fast-paced environment.

This is an important support role within the People Team and is ideal for someone with previous HR administration experience who is comfortable working with HR systems, employee information, and time-sensitive HR requests.

Responsibilities

  • Support HR administration for internal employees across the UK, ensuring employee records and HR systems are accurate and up to date.

  • Handle new starter, employee change, and leaver administration, including onboarding documents, status updates, pay-related changes, offboarding requests, and exit paperwork.

  • Support eligibility, right-to-work, TUPE onboarding, and internal people documentation processes, ensuring all required checks and records are completed accurately.

  • Use BambooHR and other HR systems to enter, update, retrieve, and compile employee data for the People Team and wider business.

  • Coordinate with hiring managers, senior stakeholders, and internal teams to support job advert requests and recruitment-related administration.

  • Assist with internal absence administration, including sickness, bereavement, and other absence types, ensuring return-to-work confirmations and payroll-related updates are completed correctly.

  • Monitor and respond to queries received via the UK HR inbox, including requests related to holidays, sickness updates, employee record changes, document needs, system updates, and general HR support.

  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the wider People Team, including reference letters, eye test vouchers, employee documentation, record updates, and urgent HR system tasks.

  • Escalate complex or sensitive cases to the appropriate People Team member and ensure confidential employee information is managed according to company policy and data protection requirements.

A successful candidate will have

  • Previous experience in HR administration, People support, or a similar administrative role.

  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when working with employee data.

  • Confidence using HR systems, spreadsheets, shared inboxes, and document management processes.

  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • A people-first mindset and a professional approach to supporting employee and manager queries.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.

  • Confidence in following processes and escalating issues when necessary.

  • A solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, especially spreadsheets, documents, and email.

  • A proactive attitude and willingness to support the wider People Team.

  • A basic understanding of UK HR administration processes.

  • Experience with BambooHR or similar systems would be an advantage.
