SitePoint is seeking a part-time contractor to write a weekly newsletter for our nearly 500,000 subscribers, with the possibility of taking on more newsletters in the future.
First, a little about us…
SitePoint has been around since the early days of the internet, launching in March 2000. We’ve still got plenty of momentum.
Each year, we reach over 13 million web professionals (82% organic, 14% direct). We have more than 168,000 pages indexed on Google, 64,500 referring domains, 10.8 million backlinks, and exceptionally strong domain authority. Our email newsletters have over 497,000 active subscribers, plus we have 116,000 Twitter followers and 266,500 forum members.
At https://www.sitepoint.com, we’ve built a brand and community for web enthusiasts, offering consistent tutorials, tools, and resources for staying current. Our e-learning platform, SitePoint Premium, has 17,000 paying members and 266,500 free accounts.
We’re bootstrapped, profitable, and have been in business for over 23 years—with no plans to slow down. We also founded 99designs (later sold to VistaPrint) and Flippa, and we’ve invested in many successful tech startups.
What we’re looking for…
We want to build an outstanding newsletter that developers and tech fans genuinely enjoy. To do that, we need a skilled newsletter writer. Newsletters like The Hustle, TL;DR, and Morning Brew succeed because they have talented writers. That’s the level we’re aiming for.
We want someone with technical know-how who can write well—someone who already keeps up with the latest tech and developer news on X and similar platforms.
Ideally, you’re a developer yourself and maybe already run a newsletter or YouTube channel as part of your personal brand, with time to commit to a weekly newsletter.
For now, your focus will be elevating our weekly newsletter. After that, we may expand into additional weekly newsletters focused on specific tech stacks.
What’s in it for you?
We’ll work out a per-newsletter rate or possibly a revenue share from newsletter ads—we’re open to different arrangements. If you’re building your own personal brand, we’ll help you amplify it through SitePoint’s reach. It’s a win-win.
The hiring process…
Start by filling out the Google form linked below.
You’ll be asked to write about one trending, newsworthy topic—a headline and a short paragraph is all we need.
If we like your writing style and think you’re a good match, we’ll contact you. We aim to have someone onboard within the next couple of weeks.
We look forward to hearing from you!
