Reporting to the Mine Closure and Reclamation Lead, the Senior Mine Closure Specialist is responsible for providing technical support and leadership of mine closure projects and programs for Ensero clients, as well as providing senior technical direction on projects ensuring successful planning, execution, and closure of mine sites
Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides technical expertise in mine closure and reclamation projects, ensuring successful project implementation.
- Provides technical leadership and project management in mine closure and reclamation projects.
- Provides direction and development for activities related to planning and closure studies for Ensero projects and clients.
- Provides technical leadership and implementation in the development of conceptual reclamation and closure strategies and plans.
- Collaborates to a multidisciplinary technical team in the development of preliminary and detailed reclamation and closure designs.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project schedules, tracking critical milestones and tasks essential for project success.
- Participate in workshops, engagement sessions, and other industry events as required, including occasional travel.
- Conduct in-depth engineering and geological analyses to support project objectives.
- Occasionally travels to participate in workshops, engagement session and other events.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards throughout the closure and reclamation process.
- Develop and implement cost-effective solutions for mine closure and land reclamation activities, optimizing environmental and economic outcomes.
- Monitor and assess the progress of closure and reclamation work, identifying potential risks or issues and providing recommendations for mitigation.
- Work collaboratively with technical teams and proactively identify opportunities to improve project environmental design aspects and streamline regulatory processes.
- Represent Ensero Solutions and our clients in mine closure and reclamation conferences, meetings, workshops and events and oversee the preparation of presentation materials.
- Develop professional and business relationships across the industry to better advance Ensero’s growth and strategic initiatives.
- Perform senior-level reviews of technical deliverables and programs within your area of expertise, ensuring the highest standards.
- Mentors project team members including direction, coaching, and professional development.
- Support business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and establishing long-term client relationships.
- All other related duties as required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor University degree in Engineering, Geoscience or other related fields.
- Master’s degree is considered an asset in related fields.
- Minimum 8 years of mining experience with focus on mine closure activities.
- Experience working in environmental consulting or project consulting setting.
- Professional Designation of P. Geo or P. Eng.
- Knowledge of and experience in Yukon’s and BC’s (and other jurisdictions) regulatory and licensing regime for resource development projects considered an asset.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
LEVEL OF COMPLEXITY
- Work is specialized in complexity and involves a high degree of independent judgment to interpret/develop policies, processes, and systems in situations where wide variation in interpretation is possible. Work is performed within broad authority, receiving little direction. Problem resolution requires resourcefulness to originate new methods of analysis and/or methods of operation.
LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Accountable for the budget, performance and results of medium-sized projects. Works under broad direction. Makes decisions in the absence of formal guidelines or precedents. Ensures quality standards are set and upheld in their field of specialization. Work has a measurable impact on the ongoing operational and financial efforts of the organization and to a large part sets the external reputation of the Company.

$100,000 – $165,000 biweekly
