The Linux System Administrator will work within a system team to manage a large and highly distributed computing environment, collaborate with other development teams on system-related interfaces and projects, and work with clients as needed to troubleshoot issues and implement systems-related projects. The client base consists of numerous medical practices that often require custom solutions to complex challenges. The successful candidate will play an essential role in managing a Linux based computing infrastructure.
Responsibilities (in order of importance)
Assist with management of Linux server infrastructures (RHEL5, RHEL6 & CentOS6)
Configure systems according to standard systems build practices
Kernel and network based systems tuning; Interface with project champions to gather requirements and be responsible for implementation and post implementation project support
Monitor, evaluate and solve hardware and/or software-related performance issues
Performs system and custom Linux kernel installations
Upgrades hardware, firmware, and system requirements
Oversees backups, system recovery and maintenance
Performs system patching, data storage, and server resources management
Oversees improvements on system reliability, system monitoring, and overall system security
Performs analysis on system log and operating systems calls in user/kernel space to profile applications
Improves Linux user/group account management and perform audits of system and installed software
Assists with troubleshooting applications written in a variety of languages
Documents Computer/Network, Security Controls and System Architecture
Performs thorough troubleshooting in a timely fashion and provide top quality user support
Performs other related duties as needed, and as directed by supervisor
Assists customers directly as needs arise
