Intermediate/Senior Linux Sysadmin
Kira Systems is looking for an intermediate or senior Linux System Administrator to join our Systems Team. Our ideal candidate would have good familiarity with technologies mentioned below, the drive to learn more about them, and some demonstrated ability to dig into ambiguous problems and find a solution.
The objective is to keep our servers and code running smoothly, this includes: availability, code deployments, automation, optimization, performance, change management, scalability, logging, monitoring, alerts, emergency response, capacity planning, security.
We also want someone for whom the idea of building automation is attractive — we have build a lot of it, and need to build more, and the ideal candidate would love to get their hands dirty with it.
Main Responsibilities:
maintaining and monitoring our production and development environments
supporting our infrastructure and application
supporting client-hosted installations of our software
documenting client questions and incidents
Personal Requirements:
available during UTC business hours
clean background check
good oral and written communication skills
a curious-minded and independent work ethic
troubleshooting-oriented
at least 5 years’ experience in relevant areas
Technical Requirements:
experience in multi-server Linux systems administration
strong knowledge of system security
knowledge of AWS (EC2, Autoscaling, Route53, CloudFormation, etc)
proficiency with RDBS and SQL
proficiency with scripting for automating tasks (we use Python, Bash, Ansible, among others)
Nice to have:
knowledge of VMware, Docker, RabbitMQ, and Zookeeper — we use these
knowledge of SELinux
knowledge of orchestration tools (especially Ansible)
knowledge of Linux internals applied to troubleshooting or optimization
experience with CentOS/Red Hat Linux
experience with PostgreSQL
experience with JVM-based languages (Clojure in particular)
experience with highly-available systems in general
experience building distributable virtual machines
experience with logging and monitoring tools like Zabbix, ELK
experience working remotely
a university degree in computer science (or relevant field)
