D-Wave Advantage Quantum Processor

Today, our Advantage quantum system has 5000+ qubits and more than 15-way connectivity. This is the greatest inter-qubit connectivity of any available quantum computer today. This allows for solving larger, more complex problems and helps to obtain higher quality solutions. It’s a very promising practical approach to quantum computing because businesses are looking to solve complex problems with multiple variables and constraints. For some problems, quantum computing is either a new way or perhaps the only way to solve for those problems.

The Senior Gate Model Tools Developer role:

Reporting to Director of Algorithms, Performance and Tools you will utilize your experience with gate model quantum computing to help expand D-Wave’s open-source offerings to make use of quantum annealing and gate model quantum computing. You will develop software for Ocean, D-Wave’s open source tools for quantum computing.

This role can be fully remote from the US or Canada, also it can be hybrid from our Burnaby office in British Columbia, Canada.

The skills we’re looking for:

Practical experience developing software for gate model systems
3+ years professional software development experience
Graduate or undergraduate education in computer science, physics, mathematics or an area related to quantum computing
Excellent Python and/or C++ abilities or a deep understanding of how similar languages function under the hood
Effective technical communication skills (verbal and written): you’ll need to work 1-on-1 with our clients and internal teams

Nice to have:

Experience developing code for open-source projects
Experience applying gate model quantum algorithms to applications
