At Spidergap/AirManual, we are:

– Determined to delight customers and grow the business
– Committed to developing both individually and as a team
– Focused on achieving all of this without unnecessary stress and with a healthy work-life balance

If you’re a fast-moving software developer who cares about code quality, wants to grow within a small, experienced team, and enjoys helping real customers achieve great results, then keep reading.

What we do

We’re a SaaS company with two products: Spidergap and AirManual. Your main focus will be Spidergap, though there will be opportunities to work across both products.

Spidergap

Spidergap aims to make it simple for organizations to support their employees’ personal development by providing tools for feedback, development planning, and taking action.

We’ve been the top-rated 360° Feedback tool since 2017 and are used in over 134 countries by thousands of organizations, including Samsung, 3M, Sony, the NHS, the European Commission, Breville, Konica Minolta and Philips.

We’ve recently launched an ambitious plan to broaden our product offering, helping employees with every aspect of personal growth. This includes a complete product overhaul using modern technologies.

AirManual

AirManual was created in 2020 to help businesses scale without constant stress. It provides tools to document and automate processes, collaborate as a team, and monitor the health of the business.

We now support more than 100 companies, including major brands like Asahi Beer, with particularly strong adoption in the accountancy sector. Like Spidergap, our reviews are consistently outstanding.

We’re currently expanding AirManual to help teams tackle broader challenges that cause stress in small businesses, such as managing daily team issues.

Requirements

We want someone who aligns with our values and brings the technical expertise needed for this role.

Do you share our values?

We’re looking for people who:
1. Focus on impact: We grow by increasing the value we deliver. We prioritize work that makes a meaningful difference, with clear outcomes from the start. Everyone understands the purpose behind their work and how it benefits customers and the business.
2. Are proactive and reliable: Everyone can solve problems and remove barriers. We quickly raise issues, share ideas, and recommend next steps. We communicate proactively so others can depend on us.
3. Pay attention to detail: Quality is our competitive advantage. We expect strong attention to detail in everything—from emails to analytics to design. It’s an attitude, not a switch.
4. Always seek improvement: We grow by continually improving our products, processes, and ourselves. We take responsibility for mistakes and use them to learn. We look for opportunities to develop our own performance.
5. Enjoy the journey: Health and family come first. We avoid excessive work hours. We support each other in reaching work and life goals. We stay positive and enjoy each step, not just the end goal.

These values guide our hiring, performance management, recognition, and decision-making.

Is this role right for you?

Much of your work will involve building and supporting new features using TypeScript, Node.js, and React.

We follow clean code practices, agile workflows, and continuous integration to bring features from concept to release. Your attention to detail will help us impress customers and build a product that’s stable and maintainable.

Responsibilities:
– Collaborate on solutions from design through release
– Write reliable, modular, well-tested, clean code
– Raise ideas and issues proactively, contributing feedback and suggestions
– Support teammates through code reviews
– Help improve our development processes and build tools
– Communicate progress, issues, and ideas clearly
– Contribute to excellent customer support

Tech stack (Spidergap):
– TypeScript
– Node.js (NestJS)
– Remix (React)
– MySQL
– Google Cloud

AirManual uses a similar stack but with PostgreSQL instead of MySQL, and we’re evaluating a transition to Remix + TypeScript.

Occasionally, you may help with legacy systems built using Express, Create React App, AngularJS, Loopback, or PHP.

Tools:
GitHub, Slack, Codeship, Dropbox Paper, Gmail, HubSpot, Sentry, and more.

Requirements:
– Passionate and driven—both in development and in life outside work
– Excellent attention to detail and commitment to writing high-quality, maintainable, scalable code
– 2+ years of production JavaScript experience
– Experience with front-end libraries such as React or Vue
– Experience with React, SQL, HTML, CSS, and automated testing
– Comfortable working remotely
– Willing to go the extra mile to produce outstanding work
– Committed to personal development
– Eager and able to learn
– Enthusiastic about technology and helping others understand it
– Communicates clearly and kindly

Location:
– Fully remote; you are responsible for maintaining a productive workspace
– You must live in a timezone between UTC -4 (New York) and UTC +6 (Dhaka)
– We cannot employ people based in Brazil, France, or the UAE due to legal constraints

Benefits

We aim to make Spidergap an exceptional place to work by building top-tier products, fostering a diverse and supportive team, promoting strong work-life balance, encouraging plenty of annual leave, being family-friendly, having fun, and committing to continuous improvement.

– “This company truly works as a TEAM. The co-founders have built an amazing group of A-players who collaborate seamlessly.”
– “This is the best work-week I have ever had. I love it here.”

Benefits:
– Competitive salary based on the typical rate for your role, experience, and location (generally GBP £45k–£70k / USD $45k–$90k)
– Annual profit share bonus based on company performance and your individual contribution
– 40 days of paid leave, including public holidays
– Fully remote work with the freedom to choose your location
– Flexible working hours, with some required overlap for collaboration
– Annual company meet-up (past locations include Iceland, Barcelona, Berlin, Athens, Edinburgh, Budapest)
– Four months of paid maternity/paternity leave
– Family-friendly environment
– Health membership contribution for gym or similar activities
– Equipment allowance
– Pension contribution (typically 10%, depending on country regulations)
