At Fintual, we make investing simple, transparent, and accessible to everyone.
We started with the belief that anyone, regardless of how much money they have, should be able to invest their savings wisely and grow their wealth. Half of our clients say they had no prior experience managing their money before using Fintual, so our challenge is to show them how to do it and help them turn it into a habit.
We’re also the first startup in Spanish‑speaking Latin America to launch our own investment funds.
Thanks to technology and automated processes, we can offer low‑fee, no‑minimum, fully online investing. That’s why it’s essential for us to maintain a highly talented team and find the right person to join our Devs.
We’re looking for someone to join the Mutual Funds squad. We handle the entire lifecycle of clients’ investments in mutual funds, including the app/web user experience when creating and investing in goals, as well as the operations of the associated funds (like our beloved Risky Norris). As you can see, we’re a very core and cross‑functional squad at Fintual.
What we’re looking for in you:
• You’re a strong programmer and truly enjoy it. You’ve been formally coding for at least two years (Fullstack / Frontend / Backend). Any language works, but experience with Ruby (on Rails), React (Native), Django, Go, or Python is preferred. If you don’t know some of these, you’ll have time to learn at Fintual.
• You like understanding operational processes and automating them. We want someone who can take ownership of improving and automating our operations.
• You’re willing to learn and comfortable taking on tasks outside your usual scope, just like everyone on the team.
• You communicate with clarity, transparency, and honesty. At Fintual, we value concise communication, vulnerability, and directness.
• You manage well enough in English. You don’t need to speak it perfectly, but you should understand it and be able to write and code in English, as well as read technical content.
How the process works:
Before applying, you must complete the following task and attach the GitHub repository link with your solution when you submit your application:
Build a simple Portfolio class containing a collection of Stocks. Each Stock has a “Current Price” method that returns its latest available price. The Portfolio also has a collection of “allocated” Stocks that represent the target distribution (e.g., 40% META, 60% AAPL).
Add a rebalance method that determines which Stocks to buy or sell to match the desired allocation.
Include documentation or comments explaining your reasoning and solution.
Important: If you use LLMs, that’s fine—just share the conversations.
After the code review, the stages are:
• Screening (30 min) with someone from the Devs and People teams to get to know you and tell you more about the role.
• Technical interview (50 min) where you’ll code live.
• Conversation (30 min) with the Squad Manager.
• Reference checks—you’ll also be able to check ours by speaking for 15 minutes with 3 Fintual team members of your choice.
Did you know that if you’re a woman, you’re part of just 35% of people who studied a STEM field? In our experience, women apply less often when they don’t meet every requirement. If you’re hesitating, give it a try.
Compensation:
This role starts at 1.6MM net, with adjustments depending on your technical level.
Some of our benefits:
• 7 weeks of vacation per year—you must take at least 5.
• Stock Options plan after one year.
• Medical expense insurance.
• Breakfast and lunch when you come to the office.
• No‑meeting Tuesdays and Fridays.
• 12‑week parental leave for the non‑gestational parent.
• If you live within an hour of the office, we’ll ask you to come in twice a week.
• You can coordinate work‑from‑anywhere with your team (within ±1 hour of Chile or Mexico) for defined periods.
Fintual was incubated by Y Combinator in 2018, by Stanford University’s dy/dx program, and is backed by investors such as Kaszek, Hi Ventures (formerly ALLVP), and Sequoia (early investors in Google, WhatsApp, Instagram, Stripe, PayPal, LinkedIn, and others).
