The Platform team develops the technology that helps Spotify move fast and scale effortlessly, supporting rapid global growth in both our users and our business. Our work spans multiple disciplines as we build the infrastructure, tools, frameworks, and capabilities needed to support a billion customers.
The SAFE Insights team partners with the five studios within the SAFE Alliance: User Platform, User Fraud, IT, Security, and PACE (Procurement, Analytics, and Cost Engineering). We help these studios understand their impact by running experiments, defining and creating performance metrics, and delivering analyses that inform key decisions. As a Data Scientist, you’ll work with colleagues across functions to uncover insights, influence product strategy, and support a culture rooted in evidence-based decision-making.
What You’ll Do:
• Collaborate with Insights Leads and senior data scientists to design and develop performance metric frameworks.
• Partner with data engineers to build pipelines for essential metrics and maintain dashboards that support both operational and strategic decisions.
• Analyze complex datasets to uncover patterns, trends, and opportunities that help SAFE studios assess their impact.
• Plan, prioritize, and carry out projects, including A/B tests and other experimental methods.
• Use statistical and causal inference techniques to measure the effects of product changes for internal and external users.
• Present compelling data stories using visualizations and reports that guide decisions across the Alliance.
• Develop into a trusted strategic analytical partner by taking on more advanced data challenges over time.
Who You Are:
• You know how to define analytical questions, navigate complex datasets, and generate insights that lead to clarity and meaningful action.
• You have experience with experimentation, causal inference, and statistical methods for evaluating product impact.
• You excel at communicating insights through dashboards, visualizations, and clear narratives, and you are familiar with tools like Tableau, Looker, or similar.
• You are proficient in data science languages such as Python or R and comfortable using SQL and large-scale data technologies.
• You care deeply about creating reliable metrics and supporting teams in making well-informed decisions with trustworthy data.
• You have experience working alongside engineers, product managers, and other cross-functional partners.
• You are curious, adaptable, and motivated to continually grow your skills.
Where You’ll Be:
• This role is based in Toronto.
• We offer flexibility so you can work where you’re most productive. While some in-person meetings are expected, you will still have the option to work from home.
The Canadian salary range for this role is $96,049–$137,213 CAD, plus equity.
