Aponia is seeking an enthusiastic, educated, engaging and problem-solving Data Scientist to join our team.
We are creating innovative solutions that rely on predictive modeling and big data analytics. We need your expertise in machine learning and data mining to help us design data sciences at scale – applying modern algorithms to massive datasets and creating measurable business value.
The Data Scientist will interact with clients on a regular basis – and is expected to be proactive, efficient, and intellectually curious – in order to best serve the clients’ needs.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and model structured and semi-structured data using advanced statistical methods, algorithms and software needed to perform analyses
- Cluster user generated content and process data in large-scale environments
- Perform machine learning, natural language, and statistical analysis methods, such as classification, collaborative filtering, association rules, sentiment analysis, topic modeling, time-series analysis, regression, statistical inference, and validation methods
- Drive client engagements focused on Big Data and advanced Business Analytics; Communicate results and educate others through reports and presentations
Qualifications:
- Curious, creative, collaborative, driven
- Ph. D or Masters degree in a quantitative discipline preferred
- Subject matter expertise in one or more industry verticals
- Track record of successful implementations of quantitative modeling products
- Experience in data mining, data analysis, data visualization and modeling of large complex datasets
- Understanding of statistical modeling and machine learning in a practical context
- Understanding of algorithms, scalability and various tradeoffs in a Big Data setting
- Data analysis tools and technology experience (SQL, R, JSON, GeoGJSON, Lucene).
- Proficiency in at least one programming language
- Knowledge of computer science fundamentals
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills

$60,000 — $90,000/year
