The Cloud Engineer designs, implements, automates, deploys, and operates production‑grade services across multiple cloud providers and infrastructure platforms for Smile Digital Health, our clients, and our partners. This role works closely with teams across the organization—including Information Services, Privacy and Security, Engineering, Product, Client Support, and Delivery—to ensure all infrastructure needs are met.

Responsibilities:
• Work with cross‑functional teams to build and deliver complex, highly available cloud and platform solutions for internal and external projects.
• Provide guidance and expertise on cloud and platform provisioning.
• Contribute to cloud and infrastructure deployments by offering subject‑matter expertise on infrastructure components.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure code and support clients and partners using Smile‑supported infrastructure solutions.
• Maintain documentation, forms, and processes such as technical documents, standard operating procedures, implementation plans, and root‑cause analyses.
• Participate in sprint, project, and departmental planning for technology initiatives and transformations. Support tooling assessments, proofs of concept, and technology roadmaps to align with industry best practices.
• Use modern cloud and platform technologies to improve operations, maintenance, and security across the organization.
• Join the on‑call rotation to provide application and infrastructure support, incident management, and troubleshooting.
• Ensure accurate daily or weekly reporting of working hours—both billable and non‑billable—and make full use of the project management tool.
• Understand the importance of tracking and reporting billable hours for project delivery.
• Follow all privacy, security, and confidentiality policies.
• Keep confidential information secure and use it only as needed to fulfill job responsibilities. Misuse may lead to disciplinary action, including termination.

Requirements:
• 8+ years of experience in IT, DevOps, infrastructure maintenance, system administration, cloud development, platform engineering, or automation development.
• 5+ years of experience developing Kubernetes service templates and code, including HELM manifests.
• 5+ years in roles supporting and maintaining critical infrastructure, managing escalations, and meeting key KPIs.
• Extensive knowledge of cloud services and hands‑on experience building critical infrastructure from the ground up.
• Proven experience building, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting Kubernetes and serverless systems, including creating new clusters and migrating applications.
• Experience with scripting and programming languages such as PowerShell, Python, and Bash.
• Ability to troubleshoot performance issues with Apache JMeter, including time‑consumption analysis, resource utilization review, and optimization recommendations.
• Experience translating architecture and technical requirements into new cloud infrastructure.
• Intermediate‑level cloud certifications required (AWS, Azure, GCP associate certifications), with professional‑level certifications preferred.
• Kubernetes certifications such as CKA, CKD, and CKS.
• Broad experience across core infrastructure technologies including security, networking, databases, data streaming, deployment automation, monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including experience working directly with clients.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain documentation such as procedures, build books, and technical standards.

Salary range: $110,000 – $135,000 per year
