BI Systems Admin Architect

BI Administrators work with the database management systems utilized across the organization and construct methods and processes to store, analyze, utilize and present data. BI Administrators must be fluent in both the database structures in use and available to use as well as the underling meaning of disperse systems data as it relates to the business operations. They must work with the Network and Security teams to provide reliable and safe access to data consumers.

Responsibilities:

  • Be familiar with the production data models and remain current on them as it relates to diverse

  • systems in use across the network

  • Construct departmental level reports

  • Monitor and maintain BI systems in use to provide for growth and change in the business

  • Remain up to date on changing technologies in the BI and Database spaces

  • Maintain a working knowledge of the in-use data structures and monitor performance providing

  • system level changes to facilitate growth and efficiency.

  • Coordinate with operations, security and network teams to provide appropriate access to

  • source data

  • Maintain ETL/ELT operation in support of data warehousing

  • Provide for reporting operations including visual data representations

Requirements:

  • A combination of formal education, professional certification and work experience totally not

  • less than 5 years is desired and will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

  • Familiarity with the shared responsibilities of systems administration, network administration

  • and security is required.

  • A working knowledge of ETL/ELT techniques

  • Basic scripting/programming skills are required such that they facilitate the data centric

  • operations.

  • Strong DBA skills are a must.

  • Solid communications skills and ability to participate in project both as a team member but also

  • as an independent party.

  • Must demonstrate a working knowledge of normalized and de-normalized data structures

  • including an understanding of how and when to use them.

Desirable qualities:

  • No-SQL and Document storage DB experience / Exposure to Datalake ideas and theory

  • Working knowledge of Tableau.

  • Working knowledge of SSRS including souring data from non MS sources

  • Working knowledge of Amazon Redshift both as a DBA but also as a systems admin
