Does this sound like you? nTopology is hiring a Product Designer. We’re seeking a high-level product thinker and talented executor to contribute to the UI/UX design for our software. This role will collaborate closely with product designers, developers, product managers, and stakeholders in building a design tool for mechanical engineers and industrial designers.

This role reports to the Director of Product Design. Our design team is located in NYC and preference will be given to candidates located on the East Coast.

What You’ll Do

Work with the Product Design Team to identify which user problems are most important to solve for our users and business.
Design beautiful solutions to help our users learn the software confidently and quickly, and that help to grow and nurture our user community.
Create journey maps, user flow diagrams, architecture diagrams, wireframes, and specifications to collaborate with software engineers, designers, and PMs.
Collaborate with UX developers to challenge, revise, and maintain our desktop UI design system to improve usability and optimize for scalability.
Create supporting visual content including icons and illustrations.
Conduct user research to understand the why behind key pain points. Engage with users and elicit needs and requirements in a dynamic and occasionally ambiguous environment.
Inspire the design team and collaborate with us to fine-tune our process.

Who You Are

1-3 years of relevant product design experience.
Familiar with a range of mediums – web, mobile, desktop, or industrial design.
Skills with information architecture, visual, interface, and interaction design.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Design field, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
Highly empathetic.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions.
Data-focused design mentality looking to inform your design decisions based on user feedback and data insight, like A/B testing, user testing, and user interviews.
Open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
Excited to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

It’s A Plus If You Also Have These

Understanding of and experience with modern CAD/CAE/CAM engineering software, technologies, and workflows.
Experience with 3D modeling programs, Animation, VFX, VR, AR, or similar.
Experience working with mechanical engineers or industrial designers.
Experience building UI components for desktop applications.
Experience with at least one of the following topics: visual programming language, functional programming, object-oriented programming, no-code apps.
