We’re expanding our Product Design team to support a major strategic shift—from individual point solutions to a fully integrated ELD platform. Design is central to this transformation. As we unify compliance, instruction, and assessment into connected workflows, we need designers who can define the end‑to‑end experience, not just its visuals. We’re seeking an experienced Product Designer who can create solutions that feel like one cohesive system rather than a set of separate tools.

This is both a hands-on and strategic position. You’ll partner with a cross-functional team to deeply understand user needs, define the right experiences, and launch solutions that deliver meaningful value. You’ll use LLM-assisted prototyping to explore ideas quickly and pressure-test concepts, allowing you to focus on systems thinking and user impact. You’ll also rely on Backpack, our design system, to craft consistent, integrated experiences across our products.

Product Culture
We work in small, long-standing product teams that focus on specific domains. These teams are fully cross-functional—product, design, and engineering collaborate so closely that we operate as a single DevPro unit rather than in functional silos. We emphasize outcomes over output, engaging users early, validating ideas through research and prototyping, and iterating rapidly toward high-confidence solutions.

Although each team has its own domain, we put a strong emphasis on integration and consistency. Alignment across products isn’t optional; it’s essential.

Designers are expected to use AI tools as on-demand creative partners to rapidly explore ideas, generate variations, stress-test concepts, and move from problem to prototype faster than traditional methods allow. AI doesn’t replace craft—it expands what’s possible within time constraints. You’ll be evaluated on what you achieve with these tools, not just on manual work.

We value Product Designers who think strategically, consider problems from multiple angles, understand tradeoffs, and can clearly explain how solutions serve both user and business needs. We prize accountability to outcomes: running experiments, learning from what ships, and delivering products that meaningfully shape behavior and provide real value.

This is a hybrid position based in our Boston, MA headquarters.

Within 1 month, you will:
• Develop a clear understanding of Ellevation’s strategic context and challenges and how they relate to your team’s areas.
• Build relationships within the Design team and get to know our culture and rituals. Form strong connections with cross-functional partners.
• Complete company onboarding.

Within 3 months, you will:
• Continue strengthening trust and alignment with key collaborators.
• Be a fully engaged member of the Design team.
• Support your product team’s initiatives through user research, discovery, and prototyping, clearly showing how your work ties to team objectives.

Within 6 months, you will:
• Take ownership of your product area’s design, partnering with your product manager to shape short- and long-term goals and delivering results based on ongoing learning.
• Use the trust you’ve built to champion design thinking and best practices.
• Deepen relationships across R&D to support cross-functional collaboration.

Within 12 months, you will:
• Use your accumulated context and expertise to influence broader product strategy and direction.
• Play an active role in scaling adoption of Backpack, our design system, and help shape and promote our design culture, values, processes, and vision across the organization.

About You
• You have 5+ years of proven experience as a cross-functional designer in B2B SaaS or a similar environment.
• You’re fluent in using AI—especially LLM-assisted prototyping—to speed up ideation and validation, allowing you to focus on high-level strategy and systems thinking.
• You prioritize outcomes over output, running experiments and measuring success by real behavior change.
• You rely on firsthand insight, having led user research and usability testing rather than designing from assumptions.
• You seek feedback, welcome challenging insights, and view craft as an ongoing practice.
• You incorporate diverse perspectives and design with empathy for users whose experiences differ from your own.
• You think in systems, building connected experiences across workflows rather than isolated features.
• You elevate others by explaining tradeoffs clearly, mentoring teammates, and contributing to a culture of design excellence.

Travel Expectations
• Boston-area preferred
• Employees in the New England region will travel to Boston for two days a month, ten times a year.
