As a Web Operations Engineer for Sky Betting & Gaming in Leeds you will form key working relationships withService Lifecycle Managers, Service Lifecycle Analysts, Technical Operations Leads, Architects, Scrum Masters, Software Engineers, Dev Ops Engineers, Platform Engineers, & Delivery Engineers.

Key responsibilities

Operations Support

  • Effective and complete troubleshooting and remediate of failures ensuring solutions are measured and validated even for those delivered outside the team.
  • Identify and track performance problems or reliability issues down to specific line of code or approach and provide tuning or recommendations for improvements.
  • Second line and out of hours support for live incidents where a reactive but measured response is required to the recovery of service.

Influence and refine system design and implementation

  • Enable and support the growth and scaling of products and services. Identifying inefficiencies in our current systems and methods to where possible automate and streamline them.
  • Work closely with development, service and support teams to promote a DevOps culture. Providing training and tools where suitable to empower them in the future.
  • Challenge and influence our developers and product owners to ensure new applications and services are delivery the right thing in the right way.

Build, run and refine tools and monitoring

  • Build or select the right tools to enable automation across all aspects of delivery, development and operations.
  • Identify areas where we can make efficiencies and avoid future workload and provide solutions that compliment our exiting tooling strategy.
  • Build, run and refine monitoring solutions for old and new systems ensuring our diagnostic tools allow us to capture ad compare metrics across all of our areas.

Deployments and testing

  • Own the release of internal code and push out configuration changes to be a guardian of code quality, helping the developers to make not just good features, but good systems.
  • Design, build and run systems for application deployment, systems orchestration and configuration management.
  • Constantly refine and tune our deployment process so ensure we are not outpaced by the needs of delivery.
