A Registered Dietitian provides telephone-based nutrition counseling to members and patients with chronic conditions. They help participants choose, prepare, and eat foods that best meet their needs as part of a long-term care and nutrition program for chronic illnesses. Chronic conditions may include diabetes, heart disease, and kidney disease. Using a member/patient-centered approach, the dietitian works one-on-one with each individual to identify and address nutrition-related concerns that matter most to them. The dietitian also connects members/patients with additional nutrition and care resources available through the health plan, the healthcare system, or the community.
**Hourly rate: $26.60–$35.00**
**Responsibilities may include:**
– Providing phone-based nutrition counseling for each member/patient; the number of sessions varies depending on the program the participant is enrolled in
– Documenting educational goals and care/case planning in the platform
– Scheduling return calls and conducting ongoing check-ins to support each member/patient
– Creating training materials and nutrition tools as needed
– Identifying community resources for clients when appropriate
– Staying current through continued education, such as reading professional publications, networking in professional groups, and participating in professional organizations
– Creating social media content and videos for articles, blogs, and other posts for the company newsletter and website, if required or upon request
**Required Knowledge and Experience:**
– Bachelor’s degree in nutrition science or dietetics
– **Registered Dietitian certification through the Commission on Dietetic Registration**
– Recognition/authorization and the ability to obtain a license in the state of residence (if required)
– **2+ years of experience providing nutrition counseling/training**
– Strong verbal and written communication skills
– Good organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with others
– Regular use of standard office equipment, including laptops, computers, and smartphones
– Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal day-to-day supervision
– Ability to conduct clinical assessments to determine whether nutrition education is appropriate for each member/patient
**Preferred Knowledge and Experience:**
– Prior experience providing nutrition counseling/training by phone
– Training in health coaching, motivational interviewing, and intuitive/mindful eating
– **Registered Dietitian license in NY, WI and/or OR**
**Physical Requirements:**
– Frequent movement of hands and fingers, including wrists, hands, and/or fingers
– Sitting or primarily sitting work, especially during extended periods with limited mobility
– Vision requirements, including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
