1000 Cookbooks is an ambitious, angel-funded startup based in London and Bath, with advisors and investors on both sides of the Atlantic.
The 1000 Cookbooks team share a love of food, but we also believe that the user experience of exploring food online needs a massive overhaul, and cookbooks need to be brought into the 21st century. We plan to create a comprehensive and expertly-curated collection of the very best cookbook content, made easily discoverable according to personal taste and preference. By mining the social web and its relationship to food, the service will meet the needs of anyone from the most avant-garde foodie to the most timid beginner in the kitchen.
As a starting point we are building a ranking of the top 1000 cookbooks of all time, voted for by a panel of leading chefs, authors and food professionals.
We are now looking for a technical lead to help kickstart the implementation of our initial website and mobile app. Compensation will include both cash and equity.
Key technical skills:
- Server-side javascript, Nodejs and assoc. frameworks
- Native iOS mobile app development and/or JS-driven mobile frameworks (React Native, Ionic etc)
- Databases (SQL, NoSQL, Graph)
- Machine learning libraries for recommendations and clustering
- Social media APIs

- Good communication and collaboration with team members in multiple locations.
