Brief Overview:
Amwell is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join our Finance team. As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will be a critical part of the Tax Department, reporting to the Tax Director. In this role you will contribute to many aspects of both income and indirect tax functions. This includes assisting with sales, use and income tax compliance, tax accounting, technical tax research and various other matters related to the Company’s operations.
Core Responsibilities:
Assist in with preparation of the worldwide quarterly and annual tax provision including supporting documentation for Federal and state tax provisions
Manage external service providers and review federal and state income tax returns including all related analysis and support
Collaborate with internal Finance department during month/quarterly closes
Manage sales & use, property, and local franchise tax returns preparation and filing process
Manage issues related to abandoned and unclaimed property, work with outside service providers on gathering information for the preparation and filing returns
Perform tax research as necessary to complete assigned tasks/projects
Coordinate and run compliance audits and respond to notices and inquiries from tax authorities
Ensure compliance with SOX controls and reporting as a public company
Other ad hoc projects as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-4 years of experience of professional tax experience or comparable industry experience
BS or BA in Accounting
MST preferred
Understanding and knowledge of ASC 740
Strong analytical ability to identify challenges, provide solutions, and resolve problems in a timely manner
Highly organized with the ability to efficiently and accurately manage competing priorities and internal and external deadlines
Positive attitude and dependable team player with strong attention to detail
Highly skilled in Excel. Proficient in other Microsoft Office suite of products
Experience with OneSource Tax Provision and/or Avalara is a plus
