Research Square(Durham, NC) is looking for a full-time System Operations Engineer with a solid background in Linux administration and Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will be a crucial member of the engineering team for a fast-growing, established, and successful company. The engineering team is responsible for the continuous, successful operation of our core assets – the locomotive of our business.

The ideal candidate should have broad experience with Linux and can quickly pick up unfamiliar technologies, diagnose issues, and keep everything chugging along happily.

In your role, you will be a key contributor to our day-to-day operations helping us with a variety of responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Monitoring, maintaining, scaling, and documenting our architecture on AWS

• Digging into our stack from application to database to kernel, profiling and monitoring, to improve performance and help identify issues for engineers to fix

• Evaluating new tools and technologies and implement them as necessary into our stack

• Planning disaster recovery and disaster avoidance/failover scenarios

• Ensuring high availability and responsiveness of all systems for our users around the globe
