We’re hiring a US-based fullstack developer (contract-to-hire) to help build Sympa

, a decision-support platform for people with complex health issues who feel medically lost — navigating chronic illness without clear answers or adequate support. If you’ve ever wanted to apply your fullstack skills to something human-centered, deeply meaningful, and technically complex, this is it.

As the first dedicated developer, you’ll collaborate directly with the technical founder to shape schemas, design architecture, and implement structured user interfaces. Our tech stack is early-stage but leaning toward Python, PostgreSQL, and React (or similar). We’re also integrating LLM-driven workflows, so experience with AI tooling is a plus.

We’re bootstrapped, calm, and mission-driven — no outside investors, no hustle culture. We value clarity, good documentation, user empowerment, and sustainable contributions. If you’re a thoughtful builder who wants your work to matter, this is a rare chance to build something foundational.

What You’ll Do

  • Design relational data models from messy health data

  • Build clear, usable interfaces for structured input and exploration

  • Implement backend services (likely Python)

  • Help integrate AI tools (OpenAI, LangChain, etc.)

  • Contribute to secure, observable deployment systems

  • Document decisions and tradeoffs clearly

Requirements

  • US-based and authorized to work (we cannot sponsor visas)

  • Strong backend skills, especially in schema and API design

  • Comfortable with modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React)

  • Able to work independently and communicate clearly

  • Bonus: AI/ML experience, healthcare familiarity, HIPAA-aware development
