In this strategic, high-impact position, you will define visual standards through ownership of our design system, contribute visual expertise to our member experience, and partner with marketing on branding and storytelling. You’ll have the freedom to drive meaningful improvements, influence teams across the organization, and work within a supportive, mission-driven design group that prioritizes outstanding craft.

Champion Visual Design Excellence:
• Establish and uphold a high visual standard across all products and services, creating a trustworthy, simple, and compelling experience.
• Help cross-functional teams understand how strong visual design builds trust and improves the user experience.
• Lead critiques, workshops, and knowledge-sharing opportunities to strengthen the team’s visual design capabilities.
• Review and refine current experiences to align them with best practices in visual design.
Drive Experimentation & Iteration:
• Lead design experiments and iterative improvements using data and insights to inform decisions.
• Explore new ways to support members and clinicians through digital experiences, incorporating storytelling, motion, generative AI, and interaction design. Stay curious and bring fresh, industry-aligned ideas to the team.
Drive Innovation and Forward Thinking:
• Stay ahead of industry trends and introduce new methods that enhance visual quality and consistency.
• Investigate emerging tools, including AI-powered design solutions, to improve creativity and execution.
• Continuously evolve our definition of design excellence and refine systems based on feedback, data, and business priorities.
Qualifications:
• 8+ years as a visual product designer, including at least 3 years working on design systems that were broadly adopted.
• Outstanding visual and interaction design skills with a portfolio demonstrating high-quality UI, strong visual craft, systems thinking, and scalable solutions.
• Excellent collaboration skills with proven success partnering with engineers for high-quality implementation.
• Strategic, long-term thinker capable of defining and executing a vision for scalable design systems and visual excellence.
• Self-directed, able to work through ambiguity and independently move initiatives forward.
• Strong communication and storytelling abilities, capable of clearly explaining decisions, trade-offs, and system value to diverse audiences.
• Bonus: Experience in healthcare or complex product ecosystems, and familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, React, etc.) to bridge design and engineering.
The United States base salary range for this full-time role varies by zone:
Zone A: 149,450 – 211,100 + equity + benefits
Zone B: 164,395 – 232,210 + equity + benefits
Zone C: 179,340 – 253,320 + equity + benefits
Zone D: 194,285 – 274,430 + equity + benefits
These ranges represent the minimum and maximum targets for each geographic zone. Compensation is determined by job-related factors such as education, experience, skill set, business needs, internal equity, and market data. Your recruiter can explain your geographic zone alignment.
This role is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus. Details will be shared during the interview process.
