At Zensurance, we value ownership, collaboration, and innovation. Our team enjoys solving complex problems, challenging the status quo, and making a real difference in an industry that’s ready for change.
If you want to build something meaningful at a fast-growing, customer-focused company, we’d love to hear from you.
We’ve built an in-house software platform that manages the full lifecycle of commercial insurance, including online quoting, pricing and rating engines, document generation, customer portals, and renewals. This custom system supports a wide range of use cases for all key stakeholders—from customers and brokers to underwriters, carriers, and claims teams.
The platform uses PostgreSQL as its primary source of truth and integrates smoothly with a robust third-party SaaS ecosystem. This includes a heavily customized Salesforce instance for broker management and Zendesk for ticketing, along with many other integrations such as payment gateways, ERPs, marketing CRMs, automation tools, and telephony systems.
We’re hiring a Staff Software Developer – Integration to join our Engineering Team. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this role will own integration design and strategy, including Salesforce and related production distributed systems.
This is a remote-first role based in Canada.
Responsibilities:
– System & Data Architecture
– Architect end-to-end integration and data strategy for Salesforce and its connected distributed systems.
– Define data ownership, entity structures, and single sources of truth across platforms using ERDs.
– Partner with core engineering teams to align system boundaries and architectural standards.
– Integration Engineering & Infrastructure
– Design high-scale integration patterns with retries, idempotency, reconciliation, and strong observability.
– Replace fragile no-code integrations (e.g., Zapier) with reliable, engineered code-based solutions.
– Apply enterprise best practices.
– Use deep Salesforce expertise to build sophisticated code-based integrations rather than standard configuration-only approaches.
– Change Management & Technical Leadership
– Build a strong CI/CD pipeline for integration management, prioritizing configuration-as-code over manual, “click-based” changes in production.
– Collaborate closely with IT, Product, and other business stakeholders to ensure smooth change management and alignment with business goals.
– Act as a technical authority on modern integration technologies, strategies, and enterprise-grade software engineering practices.
Qualifications:
– Hands-on Salesforce platform experience in a complex custom-object environment.
– Production TypeScript experience.
– Relational database experience (Postgres).
– Experience building integrations between Salesforce and external systems.
– Practical distributed-systems experience (idempotency, retries, dead-lettering, backfills, reconciliation, eventual consistency).
– Practical experience with integration technologies (REST, SOAP, Webhooks).
– Strong relational data modeling/ERD skills; comfortable with Postgres or similar.
– Experience building observability for integrations (metrics, alerts, dashboards, runbooks).
– Salesforce metadata in source control and CI/CD (scratch orgs, sandboxes, deployment automation).
– Ability to operate credibly at a staff/lead level alongside a software engineering organization.
Nice to Have:
– Experience using Salesforce as an operational/domain platform, not just a sales CRM.
– Experience integrating with other enterprise systems (Zendesk, SAP, Stripe, etc.).
– Experience in insurance, brokerage, fintech, or other regulated/workflow-heavy industries.
– NestJS experience.
– Experience replacing no-code/Zapier workflows with engineered integrations.
– Event-driven architecture experience, including message queues and webhook infrastructure.
Salary: $155,000–$180,000 per year, plus an annual discretionary bonus and potential performance-based incentives.
