1build translates building blueprints into shopping lists of construction materials that can be purchased from local suppliers. Over the last 9 months, we’ve grown 13x in revenue and facilitated $1B+ in construction spend.

Our leadership team have backgrounds at Tesla, Uber, and CloudKitchens. You will be a key part of 1build’s growth strategy and will be responsible for working at both strategic and tactical levels to help grow the company quickly and effectively.

As a member of the Engineering, Backend team at 1build you will:

Lead initiatives, technical design, and delivery of complex features across multiple systems to codify the language of buildings with us
Contribute to overall system design, architecture, security, scalability, reliability, and performance of applications
Identify, scope, and architect solutions for new features while applying sound technical judgment that considers technology alternatives, impact on affected / adjacent systems, and tradeoffs
Be heavily involved in setting the platform vision, defining feature roadmaps, and writing design documents for potential projects
Collaborate with other engineers on the team and mentor team members to foster solid engineering principles and represent our engineering values
Use both technical and relational skills to lead large scale projects to completion striving for best-in-class development experience
Build data integrations with third-party APIs that enable high-value customer experiences

What you bring to 1build:

You have 7+ years of Software Development experience
You have a proven track record of success in technically leading software development teams.
You have deep experience building large scale, high throughput distributed systems and scaling web services, particularly those using and analyzing large amounts of data. Event-driven system experience is a plus
You have a proven track record of building tooling, automation, and/or services in one or multiple languages (e.g., Golang, Python, Typescript)
You have strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and keep projects on schedule discussing complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences
You love embracing some ambiguity and testing ideas by building
You’re passionate about tech, and opinionated about what makes it good
