Job Purpose: We are inviting to joina new team member with a keen interest in modern web development who is eager to bring their expertise to focus on developing and improving our mature and evolving web application. You will be working closely with a small group of peers eager to learn and apply new ideas. This position is open for full-time remoteto the right applicant or a blend of on-site/remote for a Vancouver based employee, but ideally youll be based out of our Whistler office. Responsibilities:

• Develop features for Guestfolios core Rails application and its related services
• Help mentor and coach junior developers
• Contribute to the cross-functional team to take responsibility for the delivery of the product from development of both back-end and front-end features, right through shipping to production
• Specialize ineither front- or back-end engineering
• Possess solid familiarity with all layers of the web stack
• Deliver both client-facing and internal features and share responsibility for the quality of our product as part of the agile scrum team

Requirements:

• 8+ years experience as a web software engineer
• Experience and proficiency with Ruby, and Rails
• Experience with Javascript, React and jQuery
• Knowledge of modern web standards, HTML and CSS
• Experience with MySQL databases at scale
• Experience working with complex data domains
• Experience working with Linux tools and the shell
• Experience with Docker or similar deployment processes
• Experience with maintaining and scaling apps beyond the prototype stage
• Experience with good software development practices (version control, TDD, etc.)
• Good communication, both written and spoken
