Who we are and why we’re hiring
Twilio powers real-time business communications and data solutions that help companies and developers worldwide build better applications and customer experiences.
Although we’re headquartered in San Francisco, we have a presence across South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. We’re on a journey to become a globally anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and anti-bias company that actively opposes racism and all forms of oppression and bias. At Twilio, we support diversity, equity, and inclusion wherever we do business. We employ thousands of Twilions worldwide, and we’re looking for more builders, creators, and visionaries to help drive our growth momentum.
About the job
You’ll be collaborative, but also work with significant autonomy. To succeed in this role, you must be highly analytical—thinking strategically and globally—while showing curiosity, a sense of urgency to meet customer timelines, and strong customer focus and business judgment. This leader embodies Twilio Magic and has a proven track record managing large-scale supply chain and procurement improvement projects. This role is highly visible and will involve regular interaction with senior leaders across the company. The ideal candidate delivers results, brings executive presence, is proactive, can influence stakeholders, and consistently “gets things done.”
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for conducting category spend analyses and reporting, supplier stratification, understanding the supply market, owning deals from sourcing through contract, and negotiating complex, high-visibility deals. In addition, you will:
– Develop a cost savings strategy for technology services and products, primarily focusing on sourcing and qualifying third-party cloud, SaaS, data center, and related service providers and cloud management tools.
– Partner with stakeholders to understand business roadmaps and create a sourcing pipeline and supplier strategy/plan for your categories.
– Stay current on industry trends to make informed recommendations about pricing, competition, supplier optimization, and market compression.
– Lead negotiations for contracts with new suppliers and/or renegotiate existing contracts to achieve the lowest total cost of ownership and meet savings objectives.
– Optimize and improve the source-to-contract process by standardizing commodity code structures.
– Continuously measure, manage, and improve supplier performance against negotiated SLAs.
– Drive RFI and RFP processes with vendors, oversee proposal reviews with business, compliance, security, and legal teams, and manage the end-to-end bid process from business award through contract execution.
– Manage and influence internal stakeholders to make the best business decisions that optimize both value and cost.
– Quickly adapt and support other categories as needed, such as professional services, HR and benefits, real estate and workplace, and legal services.
– Deliver complex S2P improvement projects and other improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Not all applicants will have skills that match the job description exactly. Twilio values diverse experiences across industries and encourages everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. We also welcome applicants with alternative experiences. If your career is just starting or hasn’t followed a traditional path, don’t let that discourage you from considering Twilio—we’re always looking for people who bring something new.
Required:
– Master’s degree and/or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Industrial Engineering, and/or Operations.
– 5+ years of experience in a senior procurement role using best-in-class procurement processes.
– Experience in indirect strategic sourcing categories such as Marketing, Tax & Audit, SaaS, HR/benefits, and Hardware for global companies.
– Proven experience building category strategies and delivering hard savings year over year.
– Proven record of measuring KPIs, developing scorecards and reports, and driving the Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process to monitor sourcing and supplier performance.
– Strong quantitative, financial, and analytical skills, hands-on experience with Excel, excellent attention to detail, and sound business judgment.
– Exceptional negotiation skills developed through significant, hands-on technology sourcing experience.
– Experience using Oracle, Oracle procurement and ERP systems, RFP tools, and spend analytics tools.
– A history of taking total ownership, showing initiative/proactiveness, and executing on time—even under pressure.
