Samasource provides sustainable pathways out of poverty to underprivileged youth throughout Africa and Asia. We’re an award-winning nonprofitthatworkswith major Silicon Valley companies to provide dignified online work across Kenya, Uganda, Haiti and India.

As our solutions engineer, you’ll ensure the 2 million work submissions we receive each month are processed as quickly & efficiently as possible. You’ll write & maintain Ruby code to quickly process client data, communicate with US & Kenyan staff to diagnose & debug our online software platform, and liaise directly with clients to clarify & resolve data delivery issues.

We write tested, continuously integrated, peer-reviewed Ruby/Rails/AngularJS code. We’re vigilant about staying up to date with the latest releases of all our frameworks & tools. We run our platform on Heroku, store code in GitHub, continuously integrate with CircleCI, monitor with New Relic, and use Pivotal Tracker to keep our agile workflow flowing.

While we’d prefer applicants to work from our San Francisco office, we’ll consider remote US applicants willing to work on the Pacific timezone. This position is ideal for a junior-to-intermediate developer who likes fast-paced programming environments, boasts solid written & spoken English skills, and wants to help alleviate poverty in underprivileged communities across the world.
