We expect that the way people manage and engage with their finances will significantly advance in the coming years. Our goal is to help drive this change by creating the tools and experiences that thousands of developers rely on to build their own products. Plaid supports the financial tools millions of people use to maintain healthier financial lives. We partner with thousands of companies—including Venmo, SoFi, several Fortune 500 firms, and many major banks—to make it simple for users to link their financial accounts to the apps and services they choose. Plaid’s network spans 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, the UK, and Europe. Founded in 2013, the company is based in San Francisco with additional offices in New York, Washington D.C., London, and Amsterdam.

Plaid’s mission is to make financial freedom accessible to all by ensuring that moving money and accessing financial data is both easy and secure. As a Fullstack Software Engineer, you will design and develop the systems and user experiences that enable millions of people to connect with their finances.

You will work across the entire stack, creating scalable backend services and APIs while also building intuitive, high-quality frontend experiences that bring those systems to life. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy switching between backend technical challenges and frontend user experience work, and who want to expand their impact in both areas.

You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to deliver products that are dependable, secure, and enjoyable to use. At Plaid, engineers take ownership early, help shape architectural decisions, and see their work reach millions of users.

Responsibilities
• Work across the stack by designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services and APIs, along with intuitive and polished frontend applications.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to define requirements and develop features that address real user needs.
• Maintain high standards of code quality by writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, and participating in code reviews and technical discussions.
• Build automated tests, monitor performance, and troubleshoot issues in production environments.
• Contribute to system design and architecture to ensure reliability, security, and scalability.
• Help strengthen the engineering team through mentorship, constructive feedback, and shared responsibility for technical excellence.

Qualifications
• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a history of delivering production systems or features
• Experience developing backend services using relational databases like MySQL and working with microservices or service‑oriented architectures
• Strong skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks or libraries, with experience building user-facing interfaces
• Solid system design, coding, and testing skills across both frontend and backend
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with product, design, and engineering stakeholders
• Experience mentoring or supporting other engineers through feedback, guidance, or leadership
• Comfort working with product, operations, and data teams to deliver end‑to‑end solutions
