Software Engineer Digital Acquisition

American Express is embarking on an exciting transformation, driven by an energetic team of high performers. The International Digital Acquisitions product team is accountable for delivery of online card acquisition journeys supporting the International Consumer and Small Business Card businesses. The Software Engineer will partner with the Product Owner and interfacing technology teams to define, design, and deliver new customer facing capabilities and web applications. This is a nimble and creative team chartered with driving a product roadmap while adopting new technologies and continuous integration tooling. The successful candidate will be part of a fast-paced, entrepreneurial team responsible for delivering world class experiences. They will be challenged with identifying innovative ideas and proof of concepts to meet the existing and future needs of American Express customers. As a Software Engineer, the successful candidate will play a key role delivering product strategy and collaborating with peers, technology partners, and product owners to translate complex user stories into successful product releases in an agile environment.

Responsibilities include:

·Serving as a core member of an agile team that drives user story analysis and elaboration, designs and develops software applications, and integrates automation testing tooling

·Participating in all technical aspects of software development (architecture, design, and development of systems) for assigned applications

·Performing hands-on software development, participating in proof of concepts, and managing task completion during ongoing sprints

·Ongoing refactoring of code, utilizing visualization and other techniques to fast track concepts, delivering continuous improvement

·Developing a deep understanding of integrations with other systems and platforms within the supported domains

·Identifying exciting opportunities to adopt new technologies to solve existing needs and future challenges

·Managing time and working well both independently and as part of a team

·Converting HTML prototypes into functioning Web Applications through the integration of back-end data and process services

·Embracing emerging standards while following best practices and consistent usage of frameworks/design patterns

Offer of employment with American Express is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background verification check, subject to applicable laws and regulations. Qualifications This high energy Software Engineer must have:

Experience with Agile development principles, application design, software development, and testing

Experience applying SOA concepts for services design and consumption

Understanding of XML, JSON, Web Service technologies, and data structure fundamentals

Experience with HTML/XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, DOM, JQuery, AngularJS and version control systems (such as svn, git), exposure to MEAN stack a plus

Experience with continuous integration and automation testing frameworks (JUnit, TestNG, Selenium, SOAP UI, Mocha, Chai)

Understanding of adaptive and responsive development techniques

A strong desire to identify, learn and adapt new technologies as applicable to solve business challenges

Ability to effectively communicate with business and technology partners

Preferred Additional:

Experience with Nodejs, JBoss, WebSphere and Cloud Based Deployments

Experience applying various J2EE / GoF design patterns

Understanding of Internationalization and Localization frameworks
