In this role, you’ll design, build, maintain and scale our backend services, the lifeblood of our product. You’ll be expected to design and code high performance, high scale systems.

On the Platform Team, we design and build for scale, reliability and product agility. That means picking the right tool for the job, while being pragmatic and scrappy. We build services in Python and Java using technologies like Cassandra and HBase, Memcached and Redis, Scribe and Storm and Finagle, and, of course, MySQL. Sprout Social is used by more than 15,000 brands around the world. Companies like Adobe, Pivotal Labs, Google, Marvel, and Evernote rely on Sprout to create stronger relationships with their customers through social media.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop software features based on visual mockups or user stories

• Maintain the features you are responsible for. Strive to fix problems before customers notice by using appropriate monitoring and alerting tools. Monitor systems routinely for issues that haven’t yet occurred like scaling/growth.

• Take ownership of any step in the software development process, from design through maintenance

• Deliver high quality code while working and communicating in a team environment

• Contribute to the infrastructure that the team leverages for local development

• Extend testing capabilities by writing unit tests and assisting in basic QA testing during new feature development

• May be asked to lead or mentor other team members
