The Shipping Associate will be responsible for picking, packing, and preparing orders for shipment, as well as handling general warehouse tasks. This is a hands-on, physically demanding role that requires regular lifting of heavy boxes and the safe use of material handling equipment such as pallet jacks. On-the-job training will be provided.
- Prepares and processes outgoing shipments according to company and carrier requirements
- Verifies the accuracy of shipping orders, labels, and documentation before dispatching
- Selects appropriate shipping methods and carriers to ensure cost-effective and timely deliveries
- Generates and maintains shipping records, tracking numbers, and proof of deliveries
- Communicates shipping status updates and delays to internal departments and customers as needed
- Coordinates daily pickups and deliveries with carriers and freight companies
- Manually lifts, moves, and stacks boxes weighing up to 75 pounds
- Operates pallet jacks and other basic warehouse equipment safely and efficiently
- Maintains organized and accurate inventory
- Audits inventory counts weekly and on the final business day of the month
- Assists with receiving and unloading incoming inventory
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Supports other warehouse duties as needed
- Negotiates with suppliers and carriers for the most favorable rates
- Assists with After-Hours Stolen Vehicle Recovery: Periodically assist in the recovery of stolen vehicles outside of regular business hours. This responsibility is expected to occur infrequently and will be scheduled or requested on an as-needed basis. Associates who perform this duty will receive a minimum of two (2) hours of overtime pay for each occurrence, in accordance with California labor laws
- Performs various non-essential duties outside of primary job responsibilities as part of a cross – functional and lean team member
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Comfortable with physically demanding work, including lifting heavy items and standing for extended periods
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, high pressure work environment
- Previous warehouse, shipping, or manual labor experience
- Familiarity with pallet jacks and warehouse/inventory processes
- Vision acuity required to include close vision, color vision, distant vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to grasp objects such a telephone or computer mouse, finger dexterity to use a keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment
- Ability to walk, stand, reach with hands and arms; stoop kneel, crouch, and lift up to 75 pounds
- Ability to frequently stand and/or sit for long periods of time
- Ability to hear and talk, both in person and by phone
- Ability to spend extended hours in front of a computer screen or in a warehouse environment
Protective’s targeted compensation for this position is $20.00 – $30.00 hourly, non-exempt. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees. This position also offers additional incentive opportunities through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance
