RentShare is a NYC payment startup in a new class of payment processors that has only been formalized in the past few years. Under this new structure we are able to innovate and build a bleeding edge payment infrastructure that has traditionally been much more restrictive.
You will be the second developer working directly with the CEO/CTO and the other senior developer. We are currently working out of a coworking space alongside some great startups in the Flatiron district. We are seeking entrepreneurial self-starters to join our team as soon as possible to tackle a diverse set of problems.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING: This position will be focused on backend web application logic, API architecture, payment infrastructure, data security, and risk analysis. Below are a few specifics: Refining and expanding our REST API Optimizing the data scheme for scale Refining risk analysis and fraud protection systems Integrating apis and designing infrastructure changes needed with payment gateways, card networks, processors, and financial institution partners Working on the fun computer science problems of managing high volumes of diverse incoming and outgoing transactions
WHAT WE RUN: All development is done on Ubuntu linux which is what our servers run as well. Our servers are on AWS and we use puppet to manage deployment and configuration. The webapp is written in python and uses gevent for efficient concurrency. The database is MySQL (likely migrating to Postgresql) on RDS and we use SQLAlchemy ORM to interface with it. The front-end is mainly all client-side rendering with a javascript client-side database that syncs with the server via the api.
WHO ARE YOU: Actions speak much louder than words. Send over your resume, as well as any interesting work that you have done. More than anything we value experience: work with Python, REST api design, relational databases, and ORMs is great, and any experience with payment systems is a big plus.
