Storybird is a writing and reading platform that lets anyone make art-inspired stories.

In just a few years we’ve been embraced by millions of people around the world, helping to inspire a new generation of writers and readers through an artful mix of design, technology, and community.

Incredibly, our growth has been entirely through the web. Now, we’re building two beautiful, intelligent, robust iOS apps: Lark, for poetry. And Storybird, our canonical book app.

We’re looking for a Senior iOS Engineer to form the backbone of our efforts. Working with the product design and engineering team, you’ll plan app architecture, structure APIs and web services, and lead programming, implementation, testing, and debugging.

This is a critical role on a small team. You’ll have an outsized contribution to not just the apps, but the impact they have with our millions of users. Unsurprisingly, this means we want you to have the leadership and tenacity to get things done; and the craft and taste to make the process and outcome satisfying for everyone.

Your role: • Design app architecture and APIs • Write and maintain idiomatic, elegant code • Obsessively improve software performance • Unit testing, bug-fixing, and documentation

Your skills: • Expertise with Obj-C • Deep understanding of XCode • Varied experience with apps backed by web services • Disciplined approach to development, documentation, code structure

You have: • Apps in the App Store and open-source contributions • Easy-going personality (team fit is crucial) • Strong written and verbal communication skills (we value clarity) • Results focused (you maintain a high signal to noise ratio)

We offer: • Great product—the world’s fastest growing narrative entertainment platform • Seasoned team backed by A-list investors • Chance to flex and make a deep impact • Competitive salary and benefits • Chocolate (seriously good chocolate)
