Clover Health is driving down costs and producing improved health outcomes with a unique health insurance plan. We use sophisticated analytics and custom software to direct our own clinical staff to proactively fill in gaps in the care of our members. We have a proven model we’re scaling out.

We’re focusing on elderly and low-income patients that stand to benefit from our model the most. This puts us in a position to make a major dent in healthcare expense in the United States and reverse an unsustainable, decades-long spending trend.

The Job

We are looking for Senior Data Engineers to join our team. You’ll be part of a team building data pipelines and tools to support our analytics and application development, with opportunities to touch and explore a wide range of technologies. You will work with data scientists, frontend engineers, and healthcare professionals in a unique environment — leveraging iterative, technical insights and building tools to improve medical outcomes. We value moving fast, but we do so with a pragmatic approach that will allow us to sustain velocity over time.

Healthcare experience is not required

Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain systems for capturing changes to data, ensuring correctness and consistency.

  • Develop batch ingestion (ETL) systems for 3rd party data and internal processes (data science).

  • Create real-time ingestion systems for applications.

  • Empower control over these operations.

  • Design and implement systems for providing data to stakeholders, ensuring correctness and consistency.

  • Guarantee data freshness and availability.

  • Enable visibility into history and provide the ability to identify the root causes of change.

  • Ensure compliance with the highest standards of quality – data is forever.

  • Advance the organizational understanding of available data, incorporating it into improving our view of the world.

  • Advocate innovative uses for data, including methodologies, techniques, and tools.

  • Define and maintain development practices that let us move fast with quality — including writing tests and documenting key implementations.

  • Assist with continually enhancing operational excellence – deployment, migrations, uptime, performance, etc.

  • Work with a wide range of tools and technologies (from Python to PostgreSQL) and be able to evaluate technologies for what we are building.

  • Promote the cause of Complex Data (in contrast to Big Data).
