As a Senior Backend Developeryou will be working on our in-house developed backend system.

What you tell your friends you do ‘I’m a roadie for Coolblue. I work on the system that makes sure everyone is able to make our customers smile from the moment they submit their order until the package is delivered at their door.’

What you will really be doing

• Generally speaking, you will be building new core functionalities and optimizing current features to deliver data to all software supporting the primary business processes.
• Making the data of our existing SQL databases accessible to our downstream systems through services in a RESTful manner.
• Transitioning our existing monolithic architecture into microservices.

How you will be doing this

• Help refactor an existing successful PL/SQL + Delphi code base to be ready to grow us even more in a LEAN manner.
• Deploying your software continuously using DevOps best practices.
• Deliver Oracle REST data services using a combination of C# & PL/SQL.
• Implementing a code architecture using SOLID principles.
• Securely delivering data to and from NoSQL and in-memory data stores.
• Write code in an environment that is rapidly growing in tandem with Coolblue’s business.
• Actively coaching and continuously providing feedback to team members, you will help make them ‘a little bit better every day’.
• Using Scrum you prioritize your own work together with your team and Product Owner. You will receive immediate feedback from end users and you will have a lot of opportunities to experiment.
• You will be using the right tools for whatever job will be thrown at you. Choices that were made in the past are not rules.
• Creating extremely well crafted code that is robust and maintainable, and delivers on the user’s expectations.
• You will work in a motivated team to meet ambitious deadlines.
• There is always a budget for good ideas.

What we have worked on last quarter

• This is a brand new team! The other backend team however worked on:
• Replenishment of stores. New functionality was built to improve the restocking of the physical stores.
• Optimising calls made by the web stores through our internal service to the Oracle DB. Increasing our ability to serve many customers concurrently.

Team You’ll become part of an agile, multidisciplinary team, ranging in size between four and six members. You get your own team room, a scrum master to help guide the process and a product owner to represent the business’ needs.
