The Role of a Scrum Master at Coupa:

We are looking for an experienced Scrum Master to join our Business Applications team. This hybrid position combines servant-leadership for two key functions: supporting bi-weekly enhancement sprints and coordinating daily production support across multiple application teams.

The ideal candidate is well-versed in Agile methodologies, excels at facilitation, and can easily shift between structured sprint activities and fast-paced production support. You will help increase team velocity, maintain application stability, and support continuous delivery of value. You will also serve as our Jira specialist, helping to design and maintain SDLC processes and reporting within the platform.

What You’ll Do:

• Agile & Scrum Leadership
– Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies for the development team, including planning, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives.
– Coach the team on Agile principles to uphold high standards of performance and quality.
– Collaborate with the Product Owner/BA to refine and prioritize the backlog.
– Lead sprint planning, manage execution, and monitor burn-down charts.
– Remove impediments, shield the team from distractions, and help resolve conflicts.
– Ensure that sprints are delivered on time.
– Track and report performance metrics such as velocity, burn-down charts, and sprint summaries.
– Encourage collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement.
– Publish release notes each sprint.

• Production Support Leadership
– Lead a daily “scrum-of-scrums” or standup for Business Applications teams (Salesforce, NetSuite, Coupa, Zuora, etc.).
– Manage triage, prioritization, and assignment of production issues and urgent requests.
– Facilitate timely communication between analysts, developers, and business partners on critical issues.
– Maintain and enhance a Kanban board or similar tool to track support work.
– Monitor support metrics and SLA performance.
– Identify recurring issues and support root cause analysis and long-term fixes to be included in enhancement backlogs.

• Jira Administration
– Serve as the Jira expert, configuring and maintaining the platform to support our SDLC.
– Build and manage workflows, screen schemes, permission schemes, and notification rules.
– Develop custom dashboards, filters, advanced JQL, and reports to increase visibility and tracking.
– Train and support users to ensure they follow Jira best practices.

• SaaS Platform Delivery
– Guide the team in applying SDLC principles across enterprise SaaS platforms such as Salesforce, NetSuite, Coupa, and ServiceCloud.
– Work with operations leaders, business application leadership, and business analysts to maintain a prioritized and clear backlog.
– Support the iterative process for gathering requirements, configuration, testing, and deployment.

• Agile Coaching
– Mentor team members and stakeholders on Agile and Scrum best practices.
– Promote continuous improvement by encouraging learning and experimentation.
– Help the team develop self-organization and accountability.
– Assist the organization in advancing its Agile maturity.

What You Bring to Coupa:

• 3–5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master for a software development or IT configuration team.
• Demonstrated expertise in Jira Administration, including workflow creation and advanced JQL.
• Experience in Agile coaching and organizational change.
• Strong understanding of the SDLC and its application to SaaS configuration and deployment.
• Experience with Confluence and related Atlassian tools.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal abilities.
• A servant-leader mindset and deep commitment to supporting team success.
• Active Scrum Master certification (CSM®, PSM I, or similar) preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
