POSITION TITLE: Community Health Epidemiologist

OVERVIEW
The CDC Foundation is seeking a Community Health Epidemiologist to support the Office of Statistics and Evaluation (OSE) within the Bureau of Community Health & Prevention (BCHAP) at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The person in this role will provide epidemiologic expertise to the Community Health Equity Initiative (CHEI) and programs within the Division of Community-based Prevention and Care (DCBPC). This includes close collaboration with program and epidemiology teams across CHEI, the Office of Oral Health, and other DCBPC programs to address data, surveillance, and evaluation needs. Responsibilities include literature reviews, assisting with survey development, analyzing clinical and population-based surveillance data, supporting program evaluation, preparing reports and data communication materials, assisting with grant requirements, and providing additional support as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• MPH in epidemiology or biostatistics
• At least two years of relevant epidemiologic or related experience
• Strong knowledge of epidemiologic study design and statistical methods
• Proficiency in SAS and/or R for data analysis
• Experience with survey design and data collection
• Experience designing and implementing program evaluations
• Experience building and maintaining Tableau dashboards
• Knowledge of statistical techniques including multivariate linear and logistic regression
• Experience collecting public health program data and developing data collection tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and process
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assisting with primary data collection, including survey design, fielding surveys, managing databases, and data cleaning.
• Creating and maintaining Tableau dashboards to support program priorities.
• Supporting the development and execution of evaluation and analysis plans for the Office of Oral Health and other DCBPC programs.
• Conducting epidemiologic and statistical analyses using SAS and/or R with datasets such as hospital discharge data, mortality data, BRFSS, YRBS, YHS, and the Community Health Equity Survey.
• Assisting program and epidemiology staff with grant activities, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Advising other epidemiologists on appropriate statistical methods and interpreting analytical limitations.
• Preparing communications for various stakeholders, including reports and data visualizations.
• Assisting with additional CHEI and DCBPC priorities and initiatives as needed.
SPECIAL NOTES
This position supports a dynamic public health program, and responsibilities may change as needs evolve. Any updates to responsibilities will require written approval from both the CDC Foundation and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to best serve the Commonwealth’s public health efforts.
This role is currently hybrid; the CDC Foundation may adjust this as needed.
